Canon Powershot SD960 IS Digital Camera video transcript:
0:08
Hey everybody, welcome back to Computer TV.
I'm Sam, and today I'm going to tell you
0:12
about these new Cannons.
Now these are the PowerShot SD960 ISes,
0:17
stands for Image Stabilization. And let me
tell you, these cameras are awesome.
0:22
I have so much to tell you about them.
I don't even know where to start, really.
0:26
First of all, they come in a bunch of
different colors, as you can see.
0:29
I'm gonna show you around this pink one, but
let me start by telling you that this is a
0:33
12.1 megapixel camera.
You have a 4x optical zoom.
0:37
You have ISO capabilities, up to 1600.
You have 19 different shooting modes,
0:42
including movie mode. And actually,
one of the shooting modes is ISO 3200.
0:46
So listen, if you're shooting in low light,
I think this camera is definitely
0:50
going to take care of you. You also
can do instant editing on your camera.
0:55
You don't have to plug
it into a PC.
0:57
So, if you need to do simple things
like crop and resize, you can do that.
1:00
Also it has a rechargeable battery,
so no need to carry
1:03
some extra batteries
along with you.
1:05
And it has a 2.8'' widescreen LCD,
as you can see right here.
1:11
So it's a really great camera.
OK listen, if you're a beginner,
1:15
beginner to intermediate,
I would say this camera probably has
1:19
the newest technology out there on
the market right now, this Cannon.
1:23
Alright, I'm gonna show you
around the camera first.
1:25
Turn it on, power button's up top.
And then you have your Mode Selection button
1:30
right next to your Power button.
This is how you switch from Movie Mode
1:33
to Program/Manual Mode
and Auto Mode, right here.
1:38
You have your shutter release right here,
and then this, right here, is your zoom.
1:44
And you can see it. I'm going
to turn the camera to the side.
1:47
You can see your
4x optical zoom, like so.
1:50
So you have your lens right here.
This is a glass lens.
1:53
Turn it over, again,
you have your 2.5'' LCD.
1:57
You have your
Playback button.
1:58
Now, this is your scrolling wheel.
2:01
And this is how you navigate
around the camera, as well as select
2:05
your flash, your Macro Mode,
your self timer, and your display.
2:10
You have your Menu button right here.
On the side, when you open this up
2:14
you'll see you have an HDMI port.
Let's see, let's get it open.
2:19
Oh, there you go.
You have an HDMI port,
2:22
and you have a USB port.
Now the HDMI port is really cool.
2:25
I see more and more digital cameras
coming out with it.
2:28
It's basically to hook up to your
HDTV and you can watch all your pictures.
2:32
You can set up a slide show. You can
watch your movies all on the big screen.
2:36
I like that feature.
2:38
And turning over to the underneath of
the camera, you'll see right here
2:42
this is your slot to hook up to a tripod.
And right here you have your
2:46
battery and your SD card. Now, this takes
SD and SDHC, MMC, and MMC+ cards.
2:55
So that's good to note. You'll definitely
want to get some extra storage
2:58
because this Cannon does not
have any internal memory.
3:01
So you need a card.
3:03
Don't worry. You can have
as many pictures as you want.
3:06
Just get one of
those SDHC cards.
3:09
Alright, so now I'm going to show you
basically, all the cool features,
3:12
and more on this Cannon.
I'm going to power it back on.
3:16
So right now, we are in auto mode,
as you can see.
3:20
But to get out of auto mode
you just click right here
3:23
to "P" for Program Mode,
or also known as Manual Mode.
3:28
And when you hit
this Function/Settings button,
3:32
you'll see it takes you here
and you go to the "P".
3:35
And if you use your scrolling wheel
and scroll down,
3:38
you'll see all your different
scene selections.
3:40
So you have Portrait.
You have your Nighttime.
3:44
Keep on going down, Kids, Pets, Fireworks,
there's Snow, there's Surfing,
3:48
there's Nighttime, Fireworks,
the list goes on and on.
3:53
It's, you have a lot of
different options here,
3:56
which makes shooting easy,
if you ask me.
3:59
Alright, so let's get out of here
and let's go into Movie Mode.
4:02
OK, and I did that just by clicking
up here to the movie. OK?
4:06
So now when you're in Movie Mode,
you do the same thing.
4:09
You can go and hit your functions button,
and this is where you can customize the size.
4:14
We'll just go, you can white balance,
we'll go through these.
4:17
Right here, your quality. Now, you can go
into here and you can set the resolution.
4:23
Now, the highest resolution
is 1280 x 720.
4:26
And the lowest is 320 x 240.
4:29
So, if you're making movies
just for the web,
4:32
make sure you put them on that 320
setting so they're not too large
4:36
and you don't have to stand there
waiting forever for your video to upload.
4:40
Alright, another great feature on this
Cannon is that it has Stitch Mode.
4:43
And if you go back into Manual Mode,
and if you go back into Manual Mode,
4:50
like so, and scroll down
to all your different scene selections,
4:56
which we showed you earlier.
4:57
At the very end,
keep on scrolling,
5:00
you'll see, right here, Stitch Assist.
OK? Now Stitch Assist is basically
5:06
pasting together three or four different
images to get a panoramic view.
5:12
It's really, really interesting, you know,
if you're on a trip and you want to get
5:15
a couple different images and really have
that 180 or 360 view,
5:19
you can do that
with Stitch Assist.
5:20
Now, we're going to go back
into regular mode.
5:24
So, let's get all the way back up here
into Program Mode.
5:29
There we go, OK.
So, once you're back here,
5:32
I'm going to take a couple pictures
of myself.
5:34
Alright, stand by. Alright we'll take
another, like an angle shot.
5:43
OK, now what's cool about this camera
is that it also has blink detection.
5:49
It has face detection.
It has eye contrast detection.
5:54
And you can get all that
by going into Menu, alright,
5:58
once you're in Menu, from here
and you go to Settings,
6:01
you have to click, there you go,
you go into Settings,
6:04
and you can find, where is it?
Oh, here we go.
6:12
So once you're in here,
once you're into your Settings,
6:15
here you can see
Eye Contrast.
6:16
Now, Eye Contrast is a feature that
basically can detect and compensate
6:21
for faces that are dark
in the picture.
6:24
And if you keep going down
you'll see Blink Detection, which is great.
6:28
So, basically, what Blink Detection does is,
let's say you take a picture,
6:32
and someone in the picture has,
you know, their eyes closed,
6:35
a little red light will pop up on your screen
and that is blink detection.
6:39
So those are just some added
features now that, you know,
6:42
makes this digital camera definitely, you
know, top of the line quality
6:46
when it comes to, you know,
having the best and the newest features.
6:50
Alright, so let's get out of here. You can do
that, you can just go back and hit Menu.
6:56
OK, so we're at a main screen.
And if you go to Playback,
7:00
now, this is my
favorite part of the camera.
7:03
So, I know you guys have seen
this feature on iPhones,
7:05
you basically shake the camera, like so,
and the camera flips to the next picture.
7:12
So we'll keep on doing it,
so you can see.
7:14
Cool. And then look, you can tilt it,
and the picture will switch from
7:19
horizontal to vertical.
And go back.
7:24
And then shake it some more.
Look at that, that's cool.
7:28
Just like the iPhone, but now your
Cannon has the same technology.
7:31
It's pretty awesome,
if you ask me.
7:33
It's called Active Display Playback.
That's the official name that Cannon gave it.
