Basic History Cameras

The camera obscura
Photographic cameras has been developed from the camera obscura, which uses a pinhole or lens to project an image of the scene outside upside-down on viewing surface.
An Arab physicist, Ibn al-Haytham, He created the first pinhole camera after revieing how light travel through a window shutter. He felt that smaller holes can create sharper images. As per tales Ibn al-Haytham has credited the first camera obscura.
In early 1544 mathematician and instrument maker Reiners Gemma Frisius used it to observe a solar eclipse,
Before the discovery of photographic processes there was no way to save the images produced by these cameras apart from tracing them manually. The earlier cameras use to be a room-sized, with space for many people inside, it gradually developed into much compact sizes. portable handheld cameras suitable for photography were readily available at Niépce's time. The first camera that was small and portable enough to be practical for photography.

Early fixed images
The first partially successful photograph image was made in approximately early 19th century by Niépce, with use of very small camera developed by his own and a piece of paper coated with silver chloride, which has darkened the area where it was exposed to light. so the photograph was not permanent, In the mid-1820s, with use of a sliding wooden box camera made by Parisian opticians Charles and Vincent Chevalier to experiment was done by Niépce with photography on surfaces much thinner & coated with Bitumen. bitumen slowly hardened in the brightest exposure of image. The unhardened bitumen was then dissolved away.
Daguerreotypes and calotypes
After death of Niépce's in 1833, Louis Daguerre continued to experiment, by 1837 he created the first successful photographic process, which named as daguerreotype and revealed to public in 1839. a silver-plated sheet of copper with iodine vapor to give it a coating of light-sensitive silver iodide used by Daguerre. the image was developed by mercury vapor and fixed using strong solution of ordinary salt available. But Henry Fox Talbot perfected a different process.
The birth of film
The use of photographic film was established by George Eastman, who established paper film commercially before starting use of celluloid in late 1880s. first camera of Eastman he called the "Kodak," offered for sale in 1888. It was simple box camera with a fixed-focus lens and single shutter speed, at 1900, Eastman mass-marketed photography further with the Brownie, a very inexpensive box camera that introduced the concept of the snapshot.
Film also allowed the movie camera to become an expensive toy for a practical commercial gadget .Special backs for plate cameras were allowed to use film packs or roll film were also available in market, now as there were backs are available that enabled roll film cameras to use plates.
35 mm
Few manufacturers established use of 35mm film for still photography in era of 1905 to 1913. The first 35mm cameras available to the public at 1913, and Simplex, at 1914.
Development of film was delayed for several years due to World War I. It wasn't until after World War I that Leica commercialized their first 35mm Cameras. After receiving enough positive feedback for camera was put into production as the Leica I in 1925. Also most notably the Contax, and cemented the got the position of 35 mm in market as the format for high-end compact cameras.
Kodak got into the market with the Retina I in 1934, The fledgling Japanese camera industry began to take off in 1936 with the Canon 35 mm rangefinder cameras , and improved version of the 1933 Kwanon prototype. Japanese cameras begin to popular in the West after Korean War.
SLRs
revolution in SLR began at 1933. This was followed three years later by the first Western SLR to use 135 film, World's first true 35mm SLR was Soviet "Sport" camera, marketed several months before Kine Exakta, though "Sport" used its own film cartridge. The 35mm SLR design gained immediate popularity.
The first major post-war SLR innovation was the eye-level viewfinder, which first appeared on the Hungarian Duflex in 1947. Prior to all SLRs were equipped with waist-level focusing screens. which prevented the viewfinder from being blacked out after each exposure. This same time period also saw the introduction of the Hasselblad 1600F, which set the standard for medium format SLRs for decades. Several other Japanese camera makers entered the SLR market in the 50s, including Canon, Yashica, and Nikon. Nikon's entry, the Nikon F, It was the F, along with the earlier S series of rangefinder cameras, that helped establish Nikon's reputation as a maker of professional-quality equipment.
Digital cameras
Digital cameras differ from analog systems they didn't used film, but capture and save image on digital memory or internal storage instead of film. Their low operating costs have challenged cost of chemical prossess of film. Digital cameras now a days includes wireless communication capability to transfer, print or share images.
